Our Hire Community

Regular Classes

The Institute Hall is in regular weekly use by a wide variety of local groups. These include:

  • Adult ballet, jazz, and lindy hop classes.

  • Fitness and wellbeing sessions such as Body Balance, movement, and breathwork.

  • The Hygge Community Choir, which rehearses weekly in the hall.

  • Children’s football training and holiday sports camps.

These activities make full use of the hall’s sprung floor, lighting, broadband, and open layout, and help to keep the building at the centre of everyday village life.

Community and One-Off Events

In addition to regular users, the Institute has long provided a venue for larger community occasions. Past events have included:

  • Annual charity fundraisers and quiz nights.

  • Village picnics, quiz nights, meetings and open forums.

  • Seasonal celebrations and social evenings.

  • Elections

Private Bookings

The hall is also a popular choice for private hire. Families regularly use the space for:

  • Children’s birthday parties.

  • Anniversaries and family gatherings.

  • Private parties and holiday events

  • Rehearsals and practice sessions, including music and band use.

  • Society and club meetings.

Private bookings range from small-scale occasions to larger parties, with the hall’s kitchen, equipment, and optional extras (such as projector and screen) helping to make each event run smoothly.

the Hall can be hired for as little as two hours or over multiple days depending on need.

As part of our role in serving the whole community, there are times when the hall must be made available for essential civic purposes such as local elections, or when a booking needs to be adjusted so that more groups can make use of the facilities in a single evening. Very rarely, bookings may also be rescheduled to accommodate important community needs such as wakes for local residents, but this is very rare.  We always tried to avoid disruption where we can.

In all such cases, we will give as much notice as possible and will always offer either a full refund, an alternative arrangement.  This approach helps us to balance individual bookings with our wider responsibility to ensure the Institute remains available to the whole community.
